man, sorry to hear it darren. your stroker oddesey has been one of favorite online reads since it began. I hope something can be done on the local level to remedy the situation quickly. With Dinan's reputation on the line, i would hope the support for their top of the range product would be peerless and comprehensive. ...here's hoping for the best

I wonder if any other Dinan stroker motors have had the same problem. I also wonder if this might be a software issue. I know you have lauded stock BMW software in the past; it might be worth reflashing with BMW software to troubleshoot this problem.

Yes, my car is having the same issues. Darren and I did some runs last night. I am sure he will be posting the videos and vbox results sometime today. Basically my car pulled exactly like an M6 with equal power would pull on an M5. My vBox 60-130 on a private road was 9.1 with one shift. My best vBox time was had by rolling into 3rd at about 50 and just shifting once to 4th at redline. My best 0-60 last night was 4.1 and 0-100 8.5 if I remember correctly mainly due to traction issues.
The car has much more torque and power down low. The torque is evident down low. If I am in first or second at 3-4K RPM and punch it, the wheels break loose immediately. It is up top where it basically falls off. (Not breathing correctly? Valve float? Restriction somewhere?) Any ideas would be appreciated because at this point the only suggestion we have had were "Ship the car to Dinan at your expense and we will troubleshoot for free." Very generous. You would think for the money we spent, we would get a little better support.
The funny thing is, the a/F ratios are perfect 13:1 across the board. So, the software is attenuating the fuel correctly for the airflow it is seeing. It is just as if the motor loses power up top.
Let me make one last comment here: The motor CAN make a LOT of power. Darren's 9.4 60 - 130 and my 9.1 are the "down on power" times. We do not have any numbers from when Darren's car put buslengths on RACEMXM3's M5 or Qs06M5's 997 Turbo. I feel very confident that these cars, when making proper power, will be high 7's - low 8's 60-130. And that is the power for which we paid.
Starting a few days after the video in the beginning of this thread I started having sluggish performance again.
I have dyno'd the car and it's very much down on power. I ran against a friend of mine in a stock SL65 and lost to him in the same manner as my modded 2006 M5 with bolt-ons.
In addition, I ran against the same stock M5 in the video at the beginning of this thread and now I'm only 1-1.5 car lengths ahead of him. Looks like I'm back to square "1" again.
I dyno'd the car last week and only put out 457 rwhp on a dynojet and the next day tried a dynodynamics with the result of only 399 rwhp.
I've recorded numerous data logs using Autoenginuity software and capturing ODB-II data and passed it along to Dinan. They don't have any answers or possible solutions for me yet. Their first response was "ship the car to us in California".
Not really an acceptable answer in my book as I would hope they would provide some basic troubleshooting steps to my dealer (i.e. - replace MAF sensors, replace throttle bodies, etc.).
Ironically, I called another Dinan installer on the east coast and they thought it sounded like a MAF sensor issue so I had both replaced today and all the adaptations cleared. It has not made a difference at all.
This is why you've not seen much from me over the past 2 weeks as I've been trying to figure out what's going on with my car. Sorry for not keeping up with the requests for dyno info and videos, but I've not had very much good results here lately.
I fully believe, and expect, Dinan will come through with flying colors. I just hope they provide some basic troubleshooting steps before we jump to the most radical next step...such as shipping my car (of course then we'll need to discuss who's responsible for shipping costs at that point).
I'll let everyone know of my progress. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Regards,
Darren
Good Luck Darren, I heard about the issues and for the amount of money you have spent on this package they should fly a representative/tech out here immediately to get this issue fixed. I see it as unacceptable and you shouldn't have to ship your car out there for the price tag of a motor.

Hey Chris, sorry I didn't make it in time last night. I had a hard time getting to the 7/11 in time because I was with my boss.
I HATE the face that they want you guys to ship your cars to dinan. I don't understand how a company, knowing(maybe they don't know) their reputation for their strokers are on the line, would not be more urgent to fix this issue.
Its makes you think what a company such as ASR would do in this situation.
I hope to see a solution soon because the way I see it, it's not a coincidence that these 2 cars are both having issues. Maybe their S3 M6 or whatever its called had these same issues but were left behind closed doors. I'm sure everything will get worked out in a timely manner.
