Hello - Newbie Here w/ Pics!
Hi all, I just picked up a 2006 E60 M5 in Silverstone with 30k miles and SMG.
I live in Miami and came from the world of Saabs, I had a 9-3 Aero with a V6 Turbo.
Anyway, that forum was great and it looks like this one is too. I have a couple of questions.
I've searched and found a ton of answers to questions I had. I no longer drive the car in "D" since it pretty much sucks like that.
1. Carbon Filters...are they worth removing or just mental power?
2. My roundel on the steering wheel is dented and the dealer wouldn't fix it. Is it replaceable?
3. I had my DRLs deactivated at the dealer and want to get the bright whites for the angel eyes. Is there adifference in Angel iBrights vs. Umnitza? Has anyone bought the $70 ones on ebay and had good results?
4. My brakes are pretty loud braking from 35-0. Not squeaky - just loud braking noise. Does anyone else have that? Is it normal for this car since the calipers and rotors are so big?
That's a pretty good start for now, I'll post some pics below:

Nice car, .....Saabs suck anyways...my sister ownes them, I hate em....good move.
.
Brakes will make a wher noise it's the cross drilling....so normal it is...
.
Carbon filters do ad horsepower/some say, ...all depends who dyno's the car.
.
.as far as lites go , it's personal taste in color...and temprature
.
.As the roundel is concerned ask dealer, parts dept...they will know..
.
. Good luck, please let me know what the production date is..??

Car looks good, congrats! Some say the cf delete gives them some power, id say those RPI scoops are more noticeable than the cf delete(most do those together anyhow). Some say the AIB are brighter and more plug and play than the Umnitza, ive only had positive experiences with AIB myself but a search will reveal some more info for ya about those differences....Welcome!

Thanks for the welcomes!
I took out the carbon filters last night - super easy job with the tutorial on the sticky / FAQ. No noticeable difference felt, but since the Europeans don't have them, why should we?
Do they make K&N drop in filters for the M5? Seems they would have better airfolw than the paper filter.
What are the RPI scoops?
Thanks!

Yes, K&N do make filters, but so do others, like RPI (use BMC filters) along with their scoops - in a package deal can't be beat for cost/performance.

Most people prefer the BMC drop ins over K & N. RPI scoops are great...they go behind the grill of your car and funnel air into the air boxes. One of the better (and also cheaper) mods. Welcome to the board!
