        Buy a new tire?

Please have a look at the damage I did to my left front wheel and tire today...most importantly the tire. Do you think I can keep driving on this or would you buy a new tire?

        Thanks.

No question about it, buy a new tire. I would not drive the car at all with that condition.

You would not want to drive 100+ mphg with that tyre.

Yep, the sidewall is the weakest spot, but if it hasn't deflated chances are that it will hold up until you get it replaced. Don't drive fast on it though, as it may rip to shreds and damage the side of your car.

It is hard to evaluate your damage based on a picture, but I have driven on tires that "looked" worse that that. That small amount of rubber might not compromise the sidewall, but the impact with the curb might have created internal damage to the sidewall.

If the tire is losing pressure or the sidewall is deformed, then certainly the tire should be replaced.

With the price of your car, get a new tire.

depending on how many miles/km's he has on that front set... if he decides to replace one then might as well get a pair to keep tread wear symmetric.
