WarrantyDirect.com
Anyone ever use these guys before (even if not on the M5). The prices look good. With a $200 deductible you can get power train coverage out to 100K miles for just under $2k. The Insurance company behind it is General Fidelity Insurance Company (A-Excellent A.M Best rating- Jan. 2008); a subsidiary of Bank of America so they sound stable. The question is always one of will they actually pay.
thoughts/comments?

Hmm, haven't heard of them. $2k is very reasonable for coverage to 100k. Interested to hear if anyone's used them before

On my porsche turbo, I had a total shield warranty that more than paid for itself over the time I had it. Most everything was covered even work that was done at my independant.
Call Brian at total shield 562.458.8197 He will refer you to someone who can sell the plan to you.

Being somewhat curious about this, since I would like to keep the car beyond the factory warranty, I went to www.warrantydirect.com
Everything sounds pretty good, but then when you go to get a quote and indicate you have an "M" series in the pull down menu for BMWs, they politely inform that they do not offer coverage for that category of vehicle.

They're a good company, but they don't insure the M line from BMW.

Hmmm ... that is funny. When I go and do it I get a quote no problem. Maybe it's because I'm in California and you guys are in Texas?

I used these guys in the UK to cover my M3 for the last 2 years.
Had no issues... it is just a pain to have to ask the dealer to contact warrantydirect to get approval before the dealer is allowed to fix any problems.
In the UK the warranty was 25% cheaper then BWM, had a £25 excess for every claim (BMW was £250), the catch was a £5000 limit of claims in 1 year (BMW had not limit).
hope this helps

Ok Just got off the phone with them and surprise. They provide extended warranty for the M series cars only in California. That is so odd ... we normally get shaft out here. so CA people this is a good source for a extended warranty. For everyone else ... sorry!

I wonder what happens if you live in CA, purchase the warranty and then move a year later?

I don't know I suppose you could call and ask .... they seem nice on the phone so I suspect they would answer that questions.
