Car is "pulling" side to side while driving.....what's wrong?

I'm on the East Coast for a couple of weeks of vacation and work, and I'm borrowing my dad's 650ci (it's actually my old car that I gave him when I bought my M5). The car seems to be "pulling" side to side very badly on the highway, especially when changing lanes. It's almost like the steering wheel has a mind of its own! It's actually quite dangerous to drive!

Does anyone know what might be causing this to happen? The car has 20" Breyton's with PS2's. Tread life is about 70% remaining on both front and rear. Stock suspension.

The alignment seems pretty straight. When the car isn't pulling side to side, it stays fairly straight.

Your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!

Just cause the alignment seems straight does not mean it is correct. The toe may be off, causing the car to wander. Have a good alignment shop re-do the alignment. i am quite sure that that's your problem.

Thanks guys. I'll get the car re-aligned, and have the toe adjusted. Is there an ideal setting for the toe on the 6-Series?

New York guys.....Can one of you recommend a decent alignment shop either in Manhattan, Westchester or Greenwich, CT?

Stock alignments are best if wanting long tire wear..Have the entire front end checked, tie-rods ect....tire pressure and tire condition as far as belts go...a belt shift can make the car handle poorly. good luck

ck your control arm bushings the 20 inch wheels could have riped them or they are on their way south

+1000 on the copntrol aarms !! very common problem for bmw's !!

Alignment, specifically toe in or out, control arm bushings and tie rod bushings and mechanical connections as well.

I had a tie rod let go once upon a time...............it's not pretty!

oh if you try too do alighment they might tell you its fine i had same thing on my m5 alighment was done 2 times before dealer find out it was bad bushing on the control arm
