That 7:52 time seems very fishy to me...I trust Car and Driver and they say the 09 CTS-V is the first 4 door sedan to crack the 8min 'ring time with street tires. Maybe thats the difference, street tires versus slicks?
I know I shouldn't have started this fight, dissing the E60 M5, but I just wish BMW would stop cutting corners. I love my E39 and I am a die hard BMW fan, (got an E46 coupe as well) not sure I can drive anything else. But that E60 makes me upset. What happened to the fog lights for crying out loud?! And the 6 isn't any prettier. The new 7 is soft and the X6 is weired. I just feel BMW is loosing some of its egde. At least the E90/2/3 M3 trio is fantastic. Can't wait for the next M5, hope they get it right.

My prediction is that the CTS-V edges out the M5 in every performance category, but just by slightly. The E60 is not the best looking BMW ever, both inside or out, but I think I prefer it much more over this CTS-V's designs. Plus Cadillac has no racing or technology heritage like BMW M, important to BMW's core/base customers.
The Cadillac will be more tune-able than an E60 M5 (for all of you guys talking about NOS, SC, and TTC your cars) and will probably return better mi/gal than the M5 (even being heavier, with one less gear and larger displacement). Also, don't all GM cars come with a 100,00 mi power train warranty in USA?
That being said, I'll be picking up a slightly used E60 M5 sometime next year for more money than a new CTS-V will cost.

Gimme a break... after all that trash talking from Bob Lutz about how the new CTS-V will "suck the doors off the [now almost 4 year old ] M5," this is the result? Hahaha. Congrats, Mr. Lutz... you're a real winner!
