        Dinan Camber/Caster Plates

        dinan-camber-caster-plates-camber_plates-05.jpg

Anyone have these installed or have info yet? It appears that they are a fixed, non-adjustable, plate that should offer a set adjustment but in a very stable way. Combine this with the monoballs and you could sharpen up the front end quite a bit. My order has already been placed.

        Any thoughts?

        Camber/Caster Plates
        Product Number: D160-0600

Increases negative camber on the front wheels by -0.7 degrees and adds 1 degree of caster, providing more grip for dramatically decreased understeer.

        Price: $249.00

I was looking forward to their release when I heard about them, but went with another company once I heard they were going to be fixed. These are probably great for the street though.

I went with Ground Control for their adjustability, if that is a word. I max it out on the track and then go back close to stock settings for the street.

As you mentioned though, being fixed is probably a better idea for stability if you never plan to move it.

Just had the plates and monoballs installed. I must say I am very impressed. Steering is must sharper lighter and more crisp. Turn-in feels like night and day with much less push (understeer) than previously. I have not had a chance to feel the balance in high speed mid corner but I think it will be balanced with a lean towards lose, as opposed to the previous lean towards tight.

Love to hear what others think after they get on this bandwagon.

The description of the monoballs on the Dinan website claims:
"Ride quality is also improved as the mono ball bearings are actually more compliant. "

        Do you agree?

What does ride quality mean? I can say the front end feels more planted and secure.

Falb, I saw your car at AGA that day. How about road vibration? more rigid? since ball bearing is rigid compared to OEM which is rubber, right?

After a few more days I have to say I am extremely happy with my setup. It does not feel more rigid but it does have more feel in the corners. It feels less bumpy in EDC stiff when just cruizing around. Come by and take for a spin and you will feel the difference. My opinion...a must have.

Anybody have any idea how this will affect tire wear? Do you need a full allignment after they are installed?

Sound like another round for lunch meet

Like Andrew mentioned, do you need to redo alignment since camber allows to be more negative. For daily driving, I guess more negative camber than spec will wear tire and not benefit much compared to track except you hard corner all the time

I would think you'd need an alignment after the install of these components.

The Dinan plates are a fixed plate, so your settings will be fixed in a new position that is shifted over and more negative than stock. Yes, you will need to have an alignment done on the front. It is not doing anything in regard to the rear, but you might as well have it all checked anyway.

The computers that the shop use will tell them to align the car to factory specs. You'll need to tell them what you want, which should be provided in a piece of paper from Dinan.

If you install these and drive the vast majority of your time in a straight line, a) you're wasting money and b) you will wear the inside edge of your tire out prior to the rest of it. It is actually something to be extra careful of because how often do we pay attention to the inside edge of our tires?

The whole purpose is to get an even contact patch under hard cornering, giving up the contact patch in a straight line.
