Informed Choice coilovers H&R KW Moton Dixis

I currently run H&R springs, anti roll (sway) bars, and camber plates and my car handles much better than stock, but I'm starting to think that it is too much of a compromise.

It handles better than stock on the track, but is not perfect. Ride height is much better than stock which works great on the road, but I still think it is compromised for the track. Spring rates work in comfort mode on the road (sometimes normal) but the sport mode is still not ideal for the track. I now find myself driving mostly in comfort mode on most roads and sport mode at a track and I feel it is not perfect for either.

After reading a few threads from people that have installed coilovers, it got me thinking. With the coilovers it should be possible to run as good if not better than stock on the road at the ride height I like and then set it up so that it performs much better at a track and give me more options on the set-up.

The current offerings appear to be:
        • H&R Street Performance
        • KW v3
        • Moton club sport
        • Dixis standard suspension
        • Dixis special suspension
I would like to hear from people that have installed coilovers on their cars, or even people that have run the above coilover set-ups on other cars.

I realise that some people are more interested in the looks, eg ride height etc, but I really want to hear about the performance aspects, the range of settings etc from firmest to softest / lowest to highest. I'd also love to see pics of cars on coilovers especially of the installation.

Obviously you'll loose the EDC function when installing coilovers, but to be honest, this is not really a hardship, especially as I generally use one setting for road and one for the track...

I'm running the MOTON Clubsport Suspension. You have the option to choose 2,3, or 4-way adjustment choices each with 7 settings of adjustment and a remote reservoir that can be mounted under the hood and in the trunk allowing you easy access for adjustment. The system allows height adjustment as well.

The MOTONS will require a set of custom spec springs which Eibach or Hyperco can make for you and you will need to run a front camber kit with this setup as well.

I've had KW V3 coilovers on my 2007 Audi RS4 and I ran it with NO complaints at all! The MOTON is definitely a more technical setup if you are looking to run a true track vehicle. IMO, there is NO better setup that you can choose than MOTON.

The Dixis coilovers are so ridiculously overpriced... but I have not heard much about them other than that!!!

Any of the coilover choices should make the car handle better than stock!

Which version of the club sport are you running, 2-3-4 way? The info on the Moton website is very limited at the moment as I believe the Club sport are a new offering.

Also could you take a pic of the top of the strut from under the hood (bonnet) as I'm interested to see the available movement of the strut top with camber plates.

You mention you have to run camber plates, why? though I am currently running k-mac plates so it is not too much of an issue, but I am considering to get their stage 3, so If I went with Moton I just need to know if there is any special requirements for the camber plates?

        cheers...

So far I had discounted the Dixis becuase I know that the special suspension is priced at around £4700 (>$9000) and info on them is very limited, though looking at pics they do come with their own camber plates.

The H&R look to be aimed at street drivers, out of their range of 4 coilovers, the street performace are their most basic offering, but would still be interested to hear any information on them, though I'm not expecting too much.

I've read nothing but good comments on the KWv3's but not much info on the avaiable differences in ride, eg a set-up for driving on streets and round a track.

As Genesismotoring stated, the Moton appears to be the more technical of the offerings which may offer a much better set-up for track duty.

So it does look to be a choice between the Moton's and KWv3

I'm running the 2-way MOTON Clubsport Suspension. So far at the softest settings the car rides and handles better than stock. The suspension is phenomenal - I've been in Porsche GT3's that have it, and WOW!!!

I'll gets some pics of the setup for you shortly. I don't think there is anything wrong with the KW V3 setup, I've heard it has a stiffer ride than stock but as far as "track wise" I'm not sure. If you are serious about tracking the car it boils down to how bad you think you'll need all those settings the MOTON offers? On a car that sees the track, I wouldn't run anything else on a Euro.

Are you sure the club sport have the 3 and 4 way, as I understood it, the club sport were only available in 2 way ?

There is very little info available on the Moton website for the clubsport range.

I believe the Clubsport are 2-way - the track spec MOTON systems have the 2-4 way adjustability.

If your main intent is for track duty, then I think Moton's would be the better choice. If this is for more street driving with some track time (which I don't think is the case judging by your wheels and such) then KW's are the more economical choice.
