Comfort Access Security
This may sound dumb but could someone open the driver's door when we're waiting at a light? I mean the key's signal would be very close to the door. I did search and could not find an answer on this. Possibly defeats the purpose of self-locking doors. I know it's impossible to lock the keys in the car, or at least I think it is so does anyone know this?
By the way, I did a search.

No. The sensors can locate where the key is. Plus the car is running, so the external sensors are disabled.

If the car is on and in gear and you get out... the car will put itself in Neutral and will not be able to shift into gear. Hence you have to give the key to the valet.

Not true. The other day I forgot to take my keys out of my pocket when I valet. When I came back, they had managed to park the car, but obviously needed my keys to get the car.

are you sure? I've given the car to the valet many times and forgot to give them the key, they just hop in drive it to the parking spot. Once the car is off they can't turn it back on though.

I forgot to include the info that it only applies to the MY08... My friends MY06 allows for the car to continue in drive without the key.

This does not apply to my MY08. My experience is the same as the other guys. Happened with hotel valet one time, they drove it and parked it but couldn't restart it to get it back.

Hmmm, Never giving them my keys or my car if I can help it. The one reason I don't care to take it to Vegas. I don't think you can avoid it there...
On topic, and to add fuel to the issue, the car goes in neutral, but I notice sometimes it takes a second to notice the key is out of the car especially if you are still next to it, so maybe you are all correct in your experiences and the valets are just quick
BTW, good to hear someone can't just walk up and open your door, but that is what I assumed. It is kind of amazing how the car not only knows the key is around, but where exactly the key is or maybe I am just getting old and easily amuzed.

You're just old. lol
But with multiple sensors it would be easy to triangulate and figure out where the fob is.

It's also intelligent for locking your doors. If the fob is inside, it won't let you lock the car from the outside, safety feature to prevent you from locking yourself out.
And yes, you can exit the car with the fob and still drive it, you just can't re-start the car if it shuts off unless the key-fob is back inside the vehicle.
One thing I do all the time, is on hot days, I'll get out of the car (leave it running) and lock the car... that way my A/C keeps the car cool (like if I'm at the ATM or something) but my car is still locked. One of my favorite things about comfort access.. can leave your car running without a key but still lock the vehicle.

Cool never thought of it doing it that way like gps. I fugred there were sensors in each door and trunk, etc. It really only needs two sensors, three if it needs elevation which it should not. Makes more sense. Still cool tehnology...
And yes, I am GETTING old.
