I dunno man, maybe you didn't watch the same video, because it looked like the M3 got 'walked' from a dig.

Sigh.. whats with the negative attitude? I want to know how the guy launched so I can work on my launches, not because I think that was the reason for the loss, which was expected and inevitable. Heaven forbid someone even suggest to Tbone that any car is even near equal in performance. Hey Tbone, try walking a C63 in a straight line, LoL

But if by 'walk' you mean passed it above 100mph, then I agree.. again no surprise. Not really useful on US roads, but still faster.

Back to more constructive posting. Gustav, did you guys check what speed the M3 eventually passed him? I want to know how close you were with your prior prediction. Looking at the video, I am surprised that even from a rolling start the RS4 initially slightly pulls away. Is it the higher torque? I dunno.

For my own education, do you know how the RS4 guy launched (revs)? And what gear was the rolling start from ? Just curious.

Thanks for the videos.
Slightly less than 4000rpm standing.

Not sure on rolling. I launched from second (black RS4) which seemed to be the thing to do. Launching from first would most likely have resulted in a bigger jump on the M, but means another shift.

In my book it does. People buy cars for different reasons, and if "walking others" is one of them, then when they're able to so is likely important. Meaning, if you're regularly on the autobahn, you'll have good hunting in an M. If you're a red-light racer, you'll most likely be more effective in the RS4.

They're two very different cars. The M engaging and fast at higher speeds. The RS4 an all-rounder with way more grip. They suit different people with different priorities, and that also determines the definition of "walking".

In the M3 I always launched from 1st gear, which mught have been a mistake.

A launch is only good for one second advantage..... Maybe the M3 won't make it up in the quarter mile but on these runs, the RS4 gets walked.

I drove an RS4 last weekend really fun car. I had it in sport mode and it still felt really soft, way too soft. Also the steering had way too much play for me. I was fast, but through the twisties the M3 should definetly walk it. I do not know if there are ring times posted for both that would be interesting. But clearly from a dig an all wheel drive car has a huge advantage and from a rolling start a rear wheel since there is less drive train loss.

T-Bone is right the M3 does walk on it even after spinning its tires on the start it reeled it in really quick. I must say for people like my bro in Nebraska who deals with snow in the winter you sure can't beat an RS4 there. In a dry climate like Los Angeles M3 all the way baby.

My bro always wants to challenge my M6 he has an Audi S4 only he says we have to drive up hill in a foot of snow.

Awesome, thanks for the info Mbolo (so you were the RS4 driver?)
Ya I think too much higher and you end up just smoking the clutch and sitting in place, at least last time I tried it. What mode did you have ESP in?

And do you remember roughly what speed the M3 finally reeled you in?

Finally, how the hell did you guys get an airfield to screw around on?
