New world record, the fastest BMW: G-Power Hurricane reaches 360 km/h | 225 mph at Papenburg speedoval 31st of Jan

Got an e-mail from ASA and G-Power:

"Our car is good for everyday use, we traveled to Papenburg and back to Autenzell not(!) on a trailer like other record cars. "

"We did the record in the 7th gear with a longer differential. This setup would be good for over 400 km/h. As the weather was very bad, we had to stop more testing, it was raining, almost snowing, and a very strong wind. The real potential of this car is even higher, as we already know from our testing."

"Together with G-Power w
e made the world record, of the fastest street legal BMW, in Papenburg with 360 km/h!"

Measured by GPS on the ATP provinggrounds high-speed oval in Papenburg

Date: 31st of January 2008 at 1.31 pm

Wind: South 7,4 m/s

Temperature: 4,4 Celsius

Measurement: 2D Datelogger with 20 Hz

Speed measured: 360 km/h | 225 mph

This was performed on a closed speedoval of a total lengtht fo 12.3 km, closed for the public with proffessional drivers. Curves are banked up tp 49,7 degrees and with zero side force up to 250 km/h because of the banking.

Scary, but awesome

730PS is some amount of power. It just makes you wonder about the next M5, and what tuners will be able to do with that

Mar/Apr 08 ML&E: Only ran 200mph at Nardo due to Vanos problems. Fastest car that day? That goofy Audi TT Bimoto (242.7mph).

The car looks really nice. Does anyone know how much that conversion would cost you?

Added some nice facts from further email communication:

"Our car is good for everyday use, we traveled to Papenburg and back to Autenzell not(!) on a trailer like other record cars. "
