Anyone replaced their key battery?

I got a low charge warning - just wondered whether it loses all the settings when you change the battery..

Placing the key into the ignition (not sure what the actual term is for it) and it will charge the battery. I will do this if I am going on an long trip etc... Try driving with the key inserted in the ignition for a couple of days (even for short trips and the low battery warning will go away.

are you sure it charges it? I couldn't find that in the manual, and the batteries it uses are 'chargeable'. They're just typical disc batteries.

Scott:

I'm pretty sure I remember hearing that from the SA when I purchased the car. I don't have the manual handy to check.

I am fairly certain that it is the opposite. I believe that cars without comfort access will charge the keyfob battery when it is in the ignition slot. Comfort Access keys do not charge in the ingnition slot.

I just started getting that message this week. I put my key in and then I remembered I keep my wife's key in the glove box and so I will try charging that. I just hate driving it to her settings.

I have comfort access, and I'm guessing you're right because the battery in our fob is not a chargable battery. It's something you buy at Radio shack for small electronics and isn't designed to be charged.

I may be wrong on this as it was quite some time ago.

I don't think it looses the settings, I changed my battery ages ago after a small problem, got in the car and all the settings had changed, but then realised I was using the other key .

So you should be fine, but I was supprised that the settings were stored in the key.
