Update from the drag strip

For those that have followed my pre-V25 software runs and post V25 trap speed loss.

I recently posted a thread about the dealership finding a problem with my throttle not opening 100%, and the car felt much livelier thereafter.

Well last nite i finally made it to the same drag strip. Weather was cloudy and 15C ambient temps, with a bit of a head wind.

Fastest pre V25 run was a 12.90 @ 182.5km/h
99% of the runs done before the V25 trapped above 180.

Fastest post V25 run was a 12.99 @ 176km/h
V-boxed the car several times, couldn't get it above 176km/h exit

Last nite I couldn't better a 13.08 @ 176km/h

I can put it down to the slight windy conditions, but no matter how you look at it the car has lost power after the V25 software. You cannot simply loose 6.5km/h.

These runs were all done at the same self track, with similar conditions (only difference being the 12.90 being run at 5C ambient temps, but then the 12.99 was run at over 22C ambient temps......)

Hehe.
Crazyonboard, I don't have a 60ft timeslip sadly.

Also guys, keep in mind our altitude here is 1600m above sea level, so the cars lose around 15-17% power, hence the slower times compared to what you normally see around the world.

...m

30 years ago I saw guys running 10's with small block/injected engines in huge '55 Chevy's...

...I guess I just don't understand the facination of ruining an $80,000 road car on a drag strip

...to each his own.

MarkQC couldn't agree more. I enjoy my car completely and drive it hard when conditions are ideal. I could absolutely care less how fast my car does on a drag strip. What is the purpose of this????? And please guys don't come back with that "for the love of motorsport" stuff. I own a Motorsport 5 series and I know exactly what the car is capable of.

considering your da (altitude and conditions) your times aren't that bad. and pay no attention to unfoundhp. the only 10's he might be running in an m5 are at the 1000ft mark.

Members please, if you don't like or think drag racing your M5 /M6 then don't. If you enjoy drag racing and the competitive experience you do. But I feel negative comments in either direction is necessary. The price of the car has nothing to do with it. Find out what a purpose built race car (ie. Porsche 3.8 RSR) costs. To each his own to do as you please with your money and car. M5Ranger
