Videos: Modified M5 vs Modified M5

Hello Everyone,

We had another great DFW meet-n-greet on Saturday. Had a few M5's, plus the owner of Classic BMW showed up with him M6.

We were able to get a few runs in and I thought you might want to see them.

The cars:

Sapphire Black E60 M5 (bo_fort_worth)
Active Autowerke ECU Tune
Dinan 3.91 rear diff upgrade
Evosport Headers & Pulley

versus

Silver Grey E60 M5 (darren_dallas)
Evosport Headers & Pulley
Race Cats (and stock secondary cats)
K&N Typhoon Air Intake

Darren the intakes are causing big loss in power. I put my stock boxes back in with the stock filter. Running much better. Power back. I was thinking of going with a BMC filter

Pretty much a dead heat. Now I'm def convinced the Dinan diff does absolutely nothing except gains on the butt dyno (yes, I know Wolverine posted higher g-tech numbers, but I'm still not convinced).

Two things: why no software, Darren?
Two, I thought race cats replaced the SECONDARY cats and the headers just eliminated the primary's????

While I don't have experience with them, I have to believe that avry is correct about the K&N's. All that heated air sucked in by the open design of that filter can't be good.

Very even, except the 2nd video seem like the blk one got a better start. IMO, bo_forth_worth should have a little advantage from 3.91diff since he will shift sooner on first couple gears, other that than very even mods.

Nice runs guys!

So this tells me that the software really isn't necessary
to get performance from the headers, no? Also did
Bo_fort_worth have the stage II software or stage I?

Dead even runs. In the first vid it looked to me like the camera car started a half car length ahead. the black M5 seemed slightly faster to me but not by much
