BMW iPhone Cradle?

Anyone know if BMW is working on a snap in cradle for the iPhone that goes in the arm rest?

What advantage would the cradle have over bluetooth?

I think the cradle also give u an external antenna route to the roof antenna, and battery charging capability.

Careful! See this thread at E90post regarding the iPhone adapter/cradle in an E90. Apparently one needs three parts (the adapter, the eject box, and a cover) that total around $330. Could this be the same case with the M5? And, the cradle does not support a USB connection, so you can't use your iPhone with the iPod cable.

I don't see what the cover is for that is mentioned. From what I see, if you take out your previous phone eject box, the new one should snap right in

For the UK members...

I have just called my dealer and asked if they have the iPhone cradle and they knew nothing about it.

Gave them the part number
Part # 84-10-9-182-792
and it showed on his system but with "HOLD" as its status.

Anyway he confirmed it costs £59.99, he's trying to order one for me now and will let me know an approximate date.

At present I use a cigarette socket style charger from the power sockets in the rear trailing through to the front, and keep the phone on the passenger seat or between my legs (i hope the whole mobilephone/tissue damage theory isn't true!) which was hardly ideal. Finally somewhere to keep the phone securely in place whilst also getting charged.

The obligatory photos will follow once installed.
