iPod 6FL interface available for E60/E63?

My son has the iPod 6FL intregration on his 2007 3 series. His iDrive interface is much nicer than on my M6. For example, on my M6 I select the different catagoried by selecting CD1, CD2, CD3, CD4, CD5, or CD6. On his it actually says Album, playlist, artist, genre.

Does anyone know if this newer interface is available on the M5 or M6??? Is it part of one of the software upgardes???

Have you tried his iPOD in your car and vice versa? What you are writing is wierd.

I don't know what software version I have, but my 2008 M5 has the same "album, playlist, etc." categories that your son's 3-series has. I ordered my M5 with the iPod option, though.

Mine does the CD1, CD2 as well. Had the kit installed on my '06 as soon as it was available...

For those of us that do not have the updated version, we need to see how we can get an upgrade. The new software is hot compared to what we have.

Not only does it name the diferrent categories, but you can actually drill down into Genre as an example, see all the albums, and then play any album.

HOT TIP:

To make things even slicker. With the newer interface, using iTunes you can rename the Genre of each of your artist to the first letter of their name. Akon would be an A and Bobby Brown would be a B, etc, etc, Now you can go to the Genre heading which will show A-Z. Pick the letter you want and all the albums for that letter will appear. Then you can play any album by selecting it.

This may not seem like much, but for those of us using the current interface, or even the new interface, this makes life wonderful!

This is not an upgrade. The M5 has the new option for the 6FL. On September Production M6's, you can order the 6FL Option. The CD1-CD6 is the old setup which replaces the CD changer, hence the CD1-6. The 6FL options is ALOT faster and easier to work then the CD Changer option that you have.

This is no retrofit for the 6FL option; it must be installed at the factory. If you want to have an iPod in your car you can either use the AUX jack or buy the optional iPod connection that will work in place of a CD changer.

Not good news for those of us that could not order it direct from the factory...

As to the angel eyes upgrade, I had a friend help install a set of PIAA LED Angel Eye Bulbs from BMP in Tyler, TX (actually I helped and he did 99% of the work) this past weekend. As an observer, it was a real pain in the butt on the left light till we got it all figured out. If you do this yourself, please make sure that you use liberal amounts of tape to protect your finish. I have a 3M clear bra, but we still managed a very small nick. We doubled up on the tape for right side after thereafter.

Another tip is to reach in an unscrew the light cover onthe back of the housing before you try and remove it from the vehicle - this made the second light go much faster.

I love how it looks, but for some reason the right side is not quite as bringt as the left side. I played with it last night to make sure we had it seated properly, but that does not seem to the be problem. Otherwise, it looks really cool and I would recommend it... I just dread going back to BMP and trying to exchange one bulb to get them to match better.
