Excellent and very thorough write up , what you really need is a B5 power of the B7 weight of the M5, and a much better car than the E60 M5.
Unfortunately they are not available on the other side of the pond

I mean, overhere they are sold since the E65/1, and now the /2 version comes and all of a sudden the Alpina section has news every day about it !

Would be nice to see if there are any B7/1 owners out there
Well the first generation E65 B7 was built in very limited numbers - around 150. Most of these buyers would be from markets that are non-English speaking and less internet savvy.

Great write up - thanks for your insight into vehicles that many of us know very little about.

Excellent write up Jerry. A shame you can't get the Alpina Lavalina leather in the States as it really is super soft.

Thanks guys.

I should also add the exhaust note upon startup is a deep burble, which is exactly what you would expect to hear. Its fairly quiet in the cabin at speed but if you put your foot into it, the exhaust sound is noticeable as is some engine and even supercharger noise. One does have to listen carefully for the supercharger whine, but if you do listen for it, it is there. Comparing to the M5/6, the start up/ idle sound is far more inspirational, while the M5/6 have the B7 beat for excitement at the higher RPMs. Still, its a perfect blend of sounds for this vehicle.

OK

I was under the impression that a lot were sold by Sytner N'ham, and with the amount of brits on the E34 section, they can't exaclty be called less internet savvy

Anyways, I guess most of them went to the hands of people having the same name as their father except for the roman number indication

I would add another source of info on the B7 is the October 2007 Bimmer Magazine article written by David Haueter. Probably the best article I've read on this.

Speedo

Great writeup Jerry. Was your speedometer properly calibrated for the 21's? Mine is definitely overstating speed by about 10%. I read with some smiles a magazine article that said the car is so smooth you feel like you are going much slower than the speedo says. I'll get it set properly at the service.
