Congrats! Get a pic of the New Born in the M5.....we will appreciate it and your baby will appreciate it 16 years from now when they ask "Daddy, what is that relic of a car that you had? Is that like an Infiniti M5"?

Looks interesting... so you think this will work better "as in in if the hood was open" with the vented hood? I'm thinking of installing one of those...

So who is going to take the leap for the M6 boys?? Would be interested to hear back on your email if it is a direct fit as for the M5... thanks for the info!!

Talked with my contact. The kit will not fit the M6 and they have no plans at making one. If they didn't change the tubes, they would have to design a custom filter to fit, and the heat shields would have to be redesigned entirely to work.

A group buy is still a possibility, but given K&N's direct price is only $535 he thought the street price would be high $400s and so any group buy probably won't save much. He is still going to check for me, but it probably won't happen.

Dyno was done hood open. He challenged me to find a larger tuner shop that doesn't do all their dyno work this way due to cooling needs and would require a high volume 80+mph fan, but hopefully we'll have our own independent dyno with my car or another boardmember's car here soon with the hood closed. I don't dispute that there are probably no gains under 60 mph, but I'm fairly certain there are no losses either.

K&N got a 2008 M5 just past it's break in service with either v25 or v26 ...not sure which subversion, and the engine malfunction error did NOT occur. There is always a possibility of it occuring, like it does on mine, but they felt comfortable releasing it based on those results. Whatever maf sensor parameters got changed in my version of v25 were probably backed out after my service dept's work with BMW to resolve my error and their inability to resolve it even with new sensors.

Ok, so there are nice gains when dyno'd with the hood open. But in real life your hood is closed. Aside from vented hoods how much gain can you expect with the hood closed? Does enough air shoot up the intakes while driving to substantiate the hood open data?
