I wish. 4th gear for all my pulls. We did one 6th gear and I got 433.3, but almost broke their dyno due to the excessive speed

At this point 4th gear pulls are all my shop cares to do, plus I have so much dyno data in 4th that it's good for me to stay consistent for comparison purposes.

Thanks,

Darren

Hood was up during the filter install (when I took the picture). Hood was placed down when the actual dyno pulls were done.

If I did the pull with the hood like that, eventhough mine was just a drop in replacement filter, it would still skew the results.

Sorry for the confusion. When the dyno pull was actually happening, I was too busy watching, and completely forgot to snap some pictures. Old age I guess.

Darren, you can in fact dyno the car with the hood up. K&N and several other tuners have figured out a way to put something into the hood latches and trick the car into thinking the hood is down. That very question was asked when I first reported about the K&N intakes and that they dyno'ed with it hood up (this was back in October or November) and people wondered how they did that.

Doesn't a hood-up dyno negate any real-worldness of the numbers (i.e. allowing the engine heat to dissipate unlike in a closed-hood scenario)?

James, I remember reading that. The main take away for people is the car expects the hood to be closed (either really closed or something/someone engaging the latches). Do you remember how they engage the latches by chance?

Cheers,

Darren

That is probably debatable for the simple fact that while doing a dyno there is no simulation of real world air flow driving at 80-160mph. So a hood up with be the only thing, aside from using the correct type of fan, that would allow somewhat proper air flow/cooling.

Thanks,

Darren
