Here is a setup that I believe is new to us :)

Taken with a camera video... sorry for the bad quality...

p.s. Evosport Headers are being installed, I will be posting video as soon as the car is done

Can't wait to hear/see it when I get home. Firewall at work, can't go to the site yet. Dyno result as well. Many thanks. How was the fitment between section2 and Dinan. Clamp-on perfect in term of size wise?

#7 ·
I will post the dyno before and after the headers & pulley & software install...
Modification is necessary to fit the section 2 and the Dinan Exhaust, the clamp-on is not perfect size wise... but they were successfully installed.

It's a lot less loud than Meisterschaft GT version or your own e-race setup. Barely noticeable at start, but kind of getting attention after applied gas pedal. I wonder how loud would it be at the cold start? IMO, the section1&2 didn't need any sound (at minimal) compared to what I heard yesterday just Dinan muffler (may be just a little crispier at 4k-5k rpm). My only concern with the setup is at the cold start in the morning. Hopefully, not that loud comparing to full Meisterschaft/GT. Wonder how Dinan muffler would compare to new Meisterschaft Touring version???????? But I personally like the sound characteristic of the Eisenmann, but it's too loud. Now, I'm confused. Dinan sounds more mature/luxurious. Eisenmann sounds more aggressive toward race car type. Hopefully, you can understand my point, and don't want my english to get lost in translation. What u think about this setup compared to your old?

Many thanks

It is definitely very quiet at idle and at low RPM. It will start to gain attention at around 4500rpm and above... interestingly I found that the exhaust becomes rather high-pitched at higher rpm, instead of the low rumble. The exhaust sounds quite different when you hear it in person than it is on the video (as always). Cold start is significantly quieter than the e-race... just a bit louder than the stock exhaust and no more tremors in my garage
In short... I love the Eisenmann exhaust... but the Dinan has no droning in cabin, don't attract a lot of attention when cruising at low rpm... but will definitely make a statement at WOT. As most of you know, the reason I switched to Dinan is because of the headers install... I'd really like to tame down the exhaust from the e-race. IMO, you will like the sound of this setup... it is loud... but not obnoxiously loud... as you said... it is luxuriously loud instead if race car loud... the M5 is after all a luxury 4-door sport sedan...

I agree quiet at start, beefy with throttle. I really want to hear the Dinan muffler with the Supersprint X-pipe. I like the Dinan Mufflers, but would like a little more rumble and bite under throttle.

I have a video of that set-up with one of our members i met in Indy at F1. With his permission I could post it.

Def. more 'subdued' compared to your original setup, Joe. I think the headers may make it even more raspy, which I'm not exactly sure is a good thing:dunno:

Gotta say that the bodywork looks SO MUCH better now:applause: The trunk spoiler is new. Which one is that?

#10 ·
Yep.. it is mor "subdued" compared to the e-race... Yeah... I'm sure that the headers will make the setup more raspy... but then again... it would be significantly "subdued" than my original setup + the headers.

Thanks... the trunk spoiler is Vorsteiner. :)

Ed,

You really need to see the car in person. It really pulls together very nicely. We need to convince Joe to take a trip to Mass on Sunday or set up another Wed night meet soon.

#11 ·
:) Thanks Andrew... I would really wish that I could go to Mass on Sunday... But I have a photo shoot to go to :(
I could really go for another meet at Multiplex next Wednesday

Nice change, Joe. Can't wait to hear your complete setup. BTW, Ed, what are you waiting for? I "hear" the headers calling your name. ;)

#13 ·
Thanks :)

Yep... I'm sure Ed is calling Evosport right now... LOL

#14 ·
Hey Joe where you @ Indy for the F1 race? Car sound good almost like my moded M3 with the rasp. wich i like.:M5thumbs:

#18 ·
Unfortunately... I was not there :(

Yep... I too like the rasp, but this time its a V10 rasp... :) (I used to own E46 M3)

extassy the setup sounds cool. It should really rock with the headers on.

#19 ·
Thanks

Stay tuned... It sounds very muscular... I'll try to post the video 2night...

extassy-
Need some clarification.
Does sect. 1 replace the cat. with straight pipes? basically, you have no Cat? And sect 2 is the x -pipe right.

#21 ·
Sec 1 replaces the SECOND set of cats after the headers. There are primary cats (with the sensors) attached to the headers (these stay on unless you change your headers). And yes, sec 2 is the x-pipe.
Car is still insanely loud, esp on the highway. Short vid on the NY Caravan Pics thread of him taking off.

#22 ·
Thanks bonehead...

As he said... with the Evosport headers installed... I'm now running catless...
