Dead pixels in temperature display an expensive fix?

I've been eyeing this car when I noticed an issue with the temp. display, dead pixels. Is this an expensive fix or an indication of other bigger problems?

Also, attached is the window sticker, I know PDC isn't installed, but what other options are missing?

Thanks in advance.

right off the top of my head... it does not have the M audio option...

not sure about the pixel problem... most pixel problems are on the dash display...

Yeah, I've always seen them on the dash too. The climate control is new.

Ok, so M-Audio is an option, and from what I've read, I'm not missing much considering the Bavarian Soundworks Alternative.

Ummm, rear airbags, was that an option too?

Oh, you ARE using the search! Good catch.

Check this out:

Worst case $600 for a control??? (These prices are NOT CURRENT) Not sure, but maybe the faceplate/display is a separate part??

Thanks! I've just been looking for the panel not realizing that I may have to replace the entire control. There's a company on eBay that fixes dead pixels but that's just for E36s.

I've used Search for an options list, but I also noticed options can differ depending on Luxury or Sport on the car. Maybe M-Audio is standard with either one, or airbags, or PDC or lord knows what. Just doing a sanity check.

Thanks!

M audio and PDC was an option no matter which version of the car you ordered. Rear sunshade was Sport option only (at least post '00).

Rear airbags standard '01 and '03 and a no cost option in '02. Since most dealers didn't catch the '02 change, not many cars were ordered that way.
Regards,
Jerry

Does that mean for '02 rear airbags would be a line item on the options list?

Should be.

Any dealer can pull the original order options from the VIN. It should be an ordered option in 2002.

Got an answer to my initial question about the dead pixels. The whole unit would have to be replaced to fix the pixel problem. That's going to be $1,600 if there are rear climate controls, or $700 for non-rear climate control equipped, that parts and about 1.5 hours for labor. OUCH!

Still thinking about buying the car though and living with the pixel problem.
