Quality tires Currently Non Existant (CA)... [Experiences with Yokohama Advan Sport?]

Called Discount tire and Tire Rack and they say that the Goodyear F1 GS-D3's, PS2's, PS1's (Ending Production) 275/35x18 are out of Stock and not sure when any will come in.

I'm on hold with Costco Tires to see if they have any stock. They told me they don't carry our stock size in stock and they would have to special order. So, I assume they won't be able to get them soon...

They did say they could get me the Yokohama Advan Sport's. Good reviews. Anyone try these?

Hmm $296 for Rears and $256 F

More importantly, it seems that we will eventually be forced to pay a premium for good tires in our sizes.

Man that sucks. I even just did a search on Tirerack and you are right. Lots of back order all over the place. Interesting thing is with 19's I can get PS2's no problem. Why are the 19's available and not the 18's. It seems way more cars would use the 18's.

I just put some Kumho MX's on the M5 a few weeks ago. I haven't driven the car much (less than 200 miles) since, but I can say that they are quiet and seem to grip surprisingly well so far.

I'm impressed considering the price.

all of a sudden tires are like gold eh?

I didn't cash in on when Tire Rack had their sale a few months back. I finally found the tires I was hoping for, but had to place orders at 3 or 4 online outfits.

I've only used the Yokohama advan tires on a Porsche, fast wear with good grip. That was back in the late 80's when I first heard about them, I'm sure they have improved since then.

advan sports are great tires....they arent quite as polished as the PS2's but they certainly go above and beyond the PS2's in terms of sporting character.

What about Continental Sport Contact 2s or 3s? Decent tires both.

"Is it the sounds that make a BMW a BMW? A BMW is designed to be heard, felt, experienced. So our engines sing. Our steering talks back. And we insist on offering manual transmissions in nearly all our models for drivers who crave them. The result is an almost telepathic oneness with the car. Just as surely as you can hear a BMW, a BMW hears you."
