Tow truck driver hitting brakes with door open. Damage?

3 questions

1) When your M5 has 3 people in it (1 adult 2 kids), you get a flat 70mi from home, how does everyone get home (if the tow truck holds 2 extra people other than the driver)?

2) While getting the M5 on the flatbed the tow truck driver hit the brakes with door open and it went to its full open range really fast. I didn’t hear anything bad but do you guys think there might be damage?

The door opens and closes just fine but seeing it get ‘slammed’ open was really heart wrenching. How would I check if my door is ok?

3) Is AAA plus worth it? Or do most of you have AAA regular?

Thanks guys.

Edit: One more thing, the tire shop put on 1 new rear tire. It has about 4mm tread and my old one has ~ 3mm tread. Is that ok?

i have read that we have lifetime roadside assistance from bmw since we have no spair. That said, i think they'd just take you to a dealer.

I have the premium aaa, and find it handy. I'm in the east bay, and had my car towed once to dinan when i had an issue, in morgan hill! Would have been an expensive tow. Then again, that is the only time in several years that i've used it. Tow operator was a good guy, very professional, careful with the car etc.

As for your door, i'd think if the hinges were damaged, you'd know it. Look carefully down the side of the body for any waves or irregularity in the body work.

I have a spair that i throw in for any trips far enough away from home that a flat would be a significant pita.

+1 on Mike for bringing a spare on trips...

I had the same situation but it was in the middle of nowhere and it was 40 degrees F it took a good 3-4 hours of wait and it was @ 1 a.m i blew a tire and wasn't able to use the mbolity kit ...didn't have AAA coverage but i got towed to the nearest dealership...but i had to rent a car to go back to L.A to pickup a brand new tire (they don't have it in stock) and had bring it back to Palm springs only to find out that my rear wheel was cracked again the dealer didn't have it in stock i had to go back and get the rear wheel all in all the process was just a PITA and if i had AAA coverage i would have flatbed it back to L.A that morning and saved me time and $..the next day i went in and applied for the AAA plus...and i have used them on some of my other cars and they were always there to help ...check the door if it's aligned right (open and close and check for gaps) it might need an adjustment or not...

We're actually very lucky here in Australia in that regard. I pay AUD$166 (USD$130 or so) a year for full coverage Australia wide.

We get unlimited towing australia wide.. so If I am 2000 kms from home, I can choose to have the car 'recovered' back home to be repaired, or I can have a hire car while the car is being repaired locally. Makes having an M car that much easier.
