Different MAFs, my experience

I posted some time ago about whether Board members had experience of Pierburg MAFs used in the Beast. There were no responses that helped definitively, but I bought them to try anyway because they appeared to be good value.

My report is that they are not a good idea, based on my experience.

After 2000 miles of trouble free, my engine started 'hunting' - idling revs fluctuating between 600 and 1500.

I got some MAFs from Performance Cafe (Bosch VW) and the engine is now happy, steady, smooth and responsive.

Why this is I don't know, but so be it.
