went to autozone and got an Actron Scanner. showed a P0345 (Camshaft Position Sensor A Bank 2). Replaced the sensor (the one on the back of the engine on driver side (underneath next to transmission). cleared off the codes. car ran fine but still not 100%. code free for two days then it came back again. P0345 Camshaft Position Sensor A - Bank 2. Could it be a bad CPS to begin with? did i replace the wrong sensor. help please. thanks!
any takers? i hope someone can chime in. i'm getting really frustrated with the car that i'm thinking of trading it in for an M3 or something.....help me please...im begging....
Thing is.. what is camshaft position A? Intake or exhaust? Thing with generic OBD2 fault readers is that the faults aren't that really specific especially when it comes to BMWs.
I went to BMW . Payed then $130 to do complete scan. I got this code P0345. My questions are:
1. How much would it cost to replace at the dealer?
2. My M5 runs Great, no problems while driving.
3. If i dont replace it could it do more harm?
P.S. The mechanic at BMW said that the only time this sensor could give me problems is in the winter time during cold weather on start up. He said that the car could not start if it's cold enough outside. If this all true?
Just so you know, for about the same money, you can by a Peake code reader that is specific to our cars and pull your own codes in the future. As you can see, it will pay for itself many times over. Search the FAQ posting for a link to the Peake.
