My car bogging with ses on

this has been going on for quite some time now but its on and off but this time when the ses light goes on, my car struggles to go through revs and it almost seem like it has no power at all. i haven't had the codes checked yet but aside from the obvious MAFs (which i've replaced about twom months ago, o2 sensor), what could it be? i just replaced my spark plugs a week ago....help please...ty

codes please

see if you can get someone to read the codes. Reset them, and see if you get any that turn up consistently, and post them. I am having a similar problem, but cant seem to get the same fault code to repeat.

good luck,

ssomed

its really strange. it comes and goes. right now the ses light is off but who knows when it turns back on again. one thing i checked was my oil level and it was half level on the stick. i added 1 liter of 10w60 to it and it seem to have made the car run a bit better. previous work done: new VW MAF and spark plugs. any relations to that? also, i was wondering if the dealership would check my codes for me for free? or is that a stupid question....

Are you kidding me?!

There are hundreds of possible codes and you're posting idle speculation and adding a quart of oil????

Buy a code reader to take it into the dealer. They WILL charge you- about as much as a Peake reader will cost.

Or take it to a autozone type place, maybe they'll read codes for free.

Post back when you have codes...

A

PS Hint to all- write down codes when you get them. Double hint- if under warranty DO NOT erase codes.

i guess its pretty stupid to post without checking the code first right....i just wondered if running with low oil level for a prolonged period of time could cause problems to trigger the ses light (oil starvation to like maybe the vanos unit or something else.....)....i guess i'll check the code and take it from there.....

My off the wall guess is that you are experiencing episodes of 'limp mode' which can occur without warning. But do check the codes as A. suggests to find the root cause(s).
