Installing Entire Fog Light Assemply With Rings DIY? or Pro. Install?

I have a 97 528i currently in the body shop because of a frontal collision. The body shop agreed to order an M5 bumper instead of the stock one but they had me order the round M5 fog light assembly plus rings. I should get the car back on Monday but I won’t receive the fog light assembly plus rings until after.

Questions:

1. Will I be able to install the entire M5 fog light assembly plus fog light rings by myself without removing the bumper? If this is possible a few quick tips would really help.

2. I could take the car back to the shop and have them install it for free but the car is late by 2 weeks and I am fed-up with their service and lies to me, I’m worried they will take long to install the fog lights and I just don’t want to deal with them again.

Thanks for your help.

easy to do, only two 8mm (or maybe 6mm) bolts, iirc to hold the fog lamps in. Must be a write up, if you have no luck searching here, try bmwtips.com

I've searched the forums here and checked BMWTips write-ups with no luck. So are you saying that I will not have to remove the bumper? I can easily install them from the front of the car?

as long as the body shop leaves the wiring for the lamps accesable, you can install the fog lamps from the front. In fact, the few time's i;'ve removed my bumper (a 10 min job, max, by the way) i removed the fogs first, to get those wires out of the way.

Looking at the realoem diagram, it looks like there's only one small bolt that holds it in.

edit: do a search for hid fogs or hid fog lamps, i ran a quick search with hid fogs and there are a couple dozen posts about adding xenon bulbs for the fog lamps, someone must have done a write up, which would include removal and reinstallation of the fog lamps. Or check with board sponsor umnitza who sells them,

+1...I have replaced foglights and wired an hid kit without removing the front bumper a couple of times...the trick is getting the black rings out ( which is easy as you just press the inside of the black rings and pulling it out )...goodluck
