3 stripes in M logo?

the 3 colored stripes in the M logo that BMW uses, do they stand for anything?

I think it means (1) peace, (2) tranquility and (3) bite me. Audi and AMG use it too.

Awhile ago, Ag Surfer said they use it in the legal field at the end of the page inferring that there was more to say, but there's no room left.

Here's the official answer (taken directly from my M5 welcome package I received last week in the mail):

"The first color, Bavarian blue, is BMW's heritage color. The second color red, expresses our racing pedigree. Combine them and they form the final M color - purple".

That sounds like somebody in marketing put that together...


Maybe a better question is what should the colors represent?!

I thought it was Laguna Seca Blue, Henna Red, and Interlagos Blue?
