Can 265/35/18 & 285/30/18 be wrapped around OEM wheels - The Unofficial BMW M5 Messageboard (m5board.com)

Hi all,

Someone locally is selling a half used set of Yokohama A048 semi slicks in the aforementioned sizes. Is there ANY chance that I could wrap these around the standard M5 wheels? I've got the PG2's for daily driving so I can just leave them mounted

Both should fit on the rears only. 265 too big for fronts. From memory, most spec that as a 9 inch wheel minimum for 265.

Indeed, the 265 will be too wide for the fronts...

IMO, 265 is too big for the fronts. 285's on the rear no problemo..as i am running 285s on my rear stocks

they're semi slicks, and were just for the odd track day... not daily road driving, as long as they wouldn't scrub and could actually fit the rim

Going to 285 in the rear - given the limit of 245 on the front 8" rim- will further exacerbate the understeer.

-I ran 265s and 285s on the stock wheels. They fit, but the fronts are a little too big for the stock front wheels. The sidewalls will fold a little more than the rears (especially if you have no camber plates!) and you'll experience understeer. You can try running a little more psi in the front to compensate, and/or tuning you balance with an adjustable rear sway bar. You may need spacers (and then longer bolts or stud conversion) on the fronts. I ran 15mm, which was more than I needed and created a lot of bump-steer.

It's MUCH better to run 9.5" wheels in front with 275s, but I understand if you get a smoking deal on the others.

yeah I should really get another 2 rears for the front... was just a thought.. they're only AUD$500 for the set of 4... and while I do have GC camber plates it does sound like im pushing the preverbial sh1t up hill.. never mind... 'twas just a thought
