BMW Emergency in action [Estoril Blue M5]

Had a very busy morning, jumped back in the car , started the engine, foot on the clutch then to my surprise my left foot slams down on the floor. The clutch pedal is dead.No busted spring or fluid leak that i could see. There was nothing i could do to get the car going so i may as well have the rest of the day off.
Phoned BMW Emergency service and at first was told that my car was'nt covered, hung up and phoned back on a landline as they had me hanging on my mobile for too long.I was told that there was a problem with the computer system and i was indeed covered as mine is an approved used car. From then on everything was as clock work, service guy was there within half an hour, recovery truck 45 mins later, delivered to dealership in half hour and loan car in 2 hours. Only fly in ointment is i have to drive around in a ford mondeo for the next couple of days.
No word yet on the fault, any ideas? will a new clutch be needed?
Wane.

sounds like a bad clutch master or a slave cylinder thats my guess but let me know how it works out.

Not likely a clutch master cylinder as, I believe, the clutch shares the brake master cylinder ... Best GUESS is a slave cylinder or ...

... did you HEAR anything when the clutch dropped ... like a bang ... loud or soft?

i had this happen as well. Was the hose that goes from the reservoir to slave cyl, iirc. Had a failure at the crimp connection.

Hi Martin, i'm hoping they put a new clutch in as it did'nt feel 100%, mind you you did say it may need a new clutch soon. Still loving the car and will find any excuse to drive it.
