Just bought my beast and SES light came on

Well I have the dreaded AA and an E8.

Luckily at the first of the year they discontinued emissions period in my county.

How about that E8 though...will it cause the car to go into limp mode? I imagine AA will only trigger the SES light in cooler weather...today it's about 20 degrees cooler than it has been this week.

I just HATE that light looking at me all the time!!!

sounds kind of fishy, just bought the car, and now carbon blockage code? can you bring it back!? If all else is good with the car, get the powerchip patch. Off the top of my head, i don't know what e8 is, what does that code translate to?

If your AA code is triggered by carbon blockage of the passages into the head, the weather won't have any effect on it. If it stays on all of the time, it will mask other codes that you might care about. That alone might justify the cost of the PowerChip patch even though your county doesn't require inspections.

I bought it from a private owner...other than that...the car is just about perfect. I cleared it and it hasn't come back and I test drove on long trips.

Never had a code while test driving.

the main thing will be the next few cold starts, that is the only time this is monitored. At any rate, if the car is otherwise good, i'd just do the powerchip fix, and never worry about AA again.

I probably will...I have the E8 code as well which is the valve behind and underneath the intake, so I may replace that at least.

E8 seems to be a popular code these days,

A

PS Bring it in for a diagnostic work up... (Inside joke.. just buy the valve and have it replaced- 3 hours, $75 for the part)
