        Peake Fault Code Reader Instructions

Pardon my ignorance and inability to read simple instructions but I am simply having a difficult time understanding how to properly pull codes off my Peake fault code reader tool.

So after reading the owners manual a few times, getting frustrated in trying to understand what they are trying to say - I came up with my own set of simple instructions.

Would you folks be enough and tell me if I have this right?

Kindly correct my step by step instructions if I missed a step or I missed something or I am wrong on everything. Thank you!

        -----------------------------------------------------------------

        Peake Fault Code Reader Instructions:

Note: The reader defaults to FC (Fault Code read mode). For pulling fault codes follow simple steps below.

        1) Turn engine switch to number II position.
        2) Connect Peake Tool to OBD-II connector.
        3) Press the GO button.
Write down the first set of digits that appear. These numbers are the table you are supposed to use. (see page 6 - 26 for list of tables.)
        4) Press the GO button again. The numbers shown are now your fault codes.
Write down the first number that appears.
Press GO again to get the next fault code. Write this number down.
Repeat this process until -- shows up (end of fault code reading)
        5) Take your numbers and refer to pages 6 through 26 to decipher what those numbers mean.

        -------------------------------------------------------------------------

        What does FF mean?

And one more thing on the manual that confuses me: It states:

"Important: Use the following code tables if the tool did NOT display "FF" for the table designator."

What does that mean? Per my post number 1 above, we are not supposed to get an FF?

Your steps look right to me. It really isn't that hard, I don't even read the manual, just plug it in, don't twist, and then read out of the table what is going on in your engine.

Dont worry about it, the first number that appears is the table you need to refer to, in the case of our M5's it is table 18. At each press of go it will display the codes of the faults (if any), look this code up on table 18 and that is the fault.

        Richie.
