Throttle-Steer

What percentage of your steering is a result of conscious throttle steer when you're on track? I realize it'll be different for everyone, so it's more of a survey. On a windy road say going up to Tahoe do you ever use throttle steer? If so, to what degree?

Do any of you feel the pedal placement in the M5 is too far to the left?

Is WOT a European term or is it used in the USA too?

There are many grades of throttle steering from just balancing the car to drift through corners very wide with smoking tires.

IMO, if you are going fast on a track or twisty road you need to balance the car with throttle. Therefore DSC needs to be off.

If the corners are really, really, tight you may need to drift to get around the corner. That cann also be applied for the fun factor but it is not the fastest way to take a corner.

Cheers,
/Johan

I agree with Johan for sure. The M5 doesn't respond real well to throttle steer, but when you're in the middle of a corner at neutral throttle (i.e., enough to maintain constant speed) you can still balance it a bit. Unfortunately you just can't really make the nose tuck in, because the balance is so tilted to understeer. A car with Dinan suspension (or other) will be more rewarding to balance with your foot.

Sports cars (at least good ones) are much more responsive - you can really adjust your line with your foot in a Porsche 911, for example.
