Bye Bye M5, Do I Have to Leave The Board?

I sold my '01 M5 to the dealer today and my Anthracite baby is no longer mine. I am having M5 withdrawal already. Should I visit a local ///Methodone clinic?

The good news is that my '02 Sterling Grey is on the water now and due in Charleston on 10/4. By turning the car in today my dealer guaranteed me a price that was $425 more than my lease-payoff...not bad, huh?. Sure, I could have sold the car privately for a few thousand dollars more, but I don't have the time and patience for the tire-kickers.

I should have the new car in about 3 weeks.

My BMW dealer is a class act, they gave me a brand new Z3 3.0 coupe to drive until the M5 comes in. It had 4 miles on it.

Comparisions

MJ,

I will be interested to hear your comparisions between the different year models. When I sold my MY2000 and purchased the MY2001, there were enough differences between different options to warrent it for me in light of the trade was almost even money.

MJ, stay active on the board. I don't think your experience is leaving along with the car!

Mark, from what I'm hearing, the difference between 2001 and 2002 is much less than from 2000 to 2001. It will be interesting to see if that is true.

I sold the '01 because I was able to sell it for more than my lease payoff and get a brand new '02. Yes, I sold the car, paid off the lease and still put money in my pocket. No brainer. I did the same with my '00. Also, if I do decide to lease or finance, the rates are now lower all the way around as compared to last year at this time. My monthly payments will drop $50-$75 per month despite the $500 increase in MSRP

There are no sign.ificant changes to the '02, a few new colors and ISOFIX child car seat hardware. There will be a '03 and I'll do it again if I don't Dinan this car.

My new Sterling Grey is on the boat now and I should have it by October 15th.

MJ
