This superb poem is getting passed around via email. I thought my buddies in the USA would appreciate it. - Alps
PHOENIX FLIGHT
From sorrow’s ashes there shall rise
A fiery phoenix to the skies,
Whose blazing wings shall re-ignite
The torch of Liberty’s brave light;
Which shines on shadows that still hide
Where hate and evil coincide;
Which shines so bright, that foes who dare
To look are blinded by its glare;
Which shines so far that Freedom can and will
Find her way homeward still.
The flame of Liberty shall roar
‘Til quenching rains of justice pour.
But never will it cease to burn –
Despite our way of lives’ return.
And when the phoenix ends her flight,
A noble eagle shall she alight.
