Questions re: UUC Short Shifter

Hello Gang,

I'm thinking about getting UUC Short Shifter for my Beast. Questions to you all who have UUC or any after market short shifter:

1. Does short shifter would cause any problem/void warranty?
2. Is this something I can do with limited selection of tools. or should I let my BMW dealership install it. If so, how long would take professional to install the short shifter.
3. Finally, what is your thoughts and any suggestions regards to UUC Short Shifter?

Thanks in advance.

RAREM5,

Sorry I cant really answer the technical wuestions, but I can give you my opinion on it. I have the UUC EVO Street version, and I love it! It greatly reduces the throws. Initially, I found it to be notchy, but through time, and use, I have either broken it in a bit, or I have gotten used to it.

The only problem I have with it is that there is a lot of driveline whining noise. Supposedely, there is a fix for it now offered by UUC.

Overall, i feel that it is a great product, if not the best one out there.

I hope i helped a bit!

Good luck getting one. Orders yours now if you are interested in one. I have been waiting for over 2 months for mine. Don't really know what the hang up is, talked to Rob at UUC, I guess they are having problems with getting the parts machined. I thought they had their own machine shop?!

Thanks BostonRocket. Did you get cartridge bearing and Delrin Carrier Busings to go with it? I'm wondering if those items are worth getting....

Oak, I will call UUC on Monday morning.. I will keep you posted if I hear different than back order.

i installed the UUC fix for the buzz/whine one week ago-- i was lucky i guess to receive the updrage. rob at uuc told me i was first on the upgrade list. it definitely helps, but it does not get rid of all of the buzz during very hard, all-out, pedal to the medal acceleration. still, i am very happy with the short shifter and like it much, much better than the stock shifter. i am going to call rob levinson at uuc to let him know that the results of the fix.

Just ordered!!!

Thanks everyone for their input!!!

I just gof off the phone with Rob at UUC. I ordered COMPETITION•EVO" kit and cartridge bearing upgrade.

SteveB, what kind of upgrade is it? Rob at UUC didn't mentioned about upgrade.. Is it cartridge bearing?

Oak, they have the shifters in stock. Rob is shipping mine today, however, when I would get them is different story (because of last week)
