How is the BSW speaker/sub upgrade?

Does anyone have the BSW upgraded speakers and/or subwoofer? If so, how do you like it? Is it lacking anything or is it more bass than one can handle?

Most everyone - myself included - who has done one or both is very, very satisfied with BSW products and customer service.

+1 for customer service. I didn't buy from BSW due to freight issues to Australia, despite this Micah has been very helpful on a number of occasions. Agree, all those who have gone this route have been satisfied with the outcome.

Yes.....

I have the 10 speaker and 12" sub (with its own amp) upgrades (from the M-Audio option that came with the new car). BSW upgrade results in superb, clear sound. Bass is never too much; cause you can set-up the amp to your liking and then dial it in from DSP controls in OBC/NAV display. You get what you want, how you want it.

You will like this set-up very much. 'Highly recommend. And yes, customer service is excellent.

Have the BSW speaker upgrade. Very happy overall. One word of caution, if you plan to install yourself, don't do it on the weekend. BSW is closed and if you need support you will be forced to wait till Monday (usually with either your doors apart or the back seat out).

Thanks for the feedback!

BimmerHead, you are right that this is an issue. As we grow, one of our biggest goals is to be able to provide support 7 days a week. Right now it isn't feasible as we are still a small company. In the meantime, we are CONSTANTLY updating our instructions to insure that they are as accurate as possible and near-perfect. We are human and we will find a mistake once in a while, but they are very, very good at this point.

For anyone considering a BSW upgrade, if you intend to install on the weekend, please let me know, and I'll be happy to provide you with my cell phone number in case of an emergency. I can't guarantee that I'll be able to take your call during the weekend, but it just might help!

+1. If you're handy and not afraid to pull the back seats out of your car, you can do it yourself. I think I took 3 or 4 hours because I was taking my time and I had the hardest time figuring out how to undo the driver side window controls. In retrospect, it was pretty easy but at the time, I didn't want to snap off the plastic retainer so I was fussing with it a long time.

The subs I did over a few weekends because I wanted to be sure how to run the wires and where to place the amp.

bobsalotto,

I think the speakers are around $400 - $500 and the sub is around $800. Check out their website by clicking on the link at the top of M5board webpage. There's threads out there that talk about the speaker install.

Like the others said, Micah is one class act. I spoke with Jason their installer and he was patient with my newbie questions.

Bob

Thanks for explaining for us, Bob!

By the way, I just want to note that these days it's not just me that's taking care of you guys -- we have a 7 man team here now, and for the most part I'm now behind the scenes working on making the business better. Blame the good service on the other guys here!

bobsalotto: Here are links to audio upgrades we offer for your BMW:

Speakers: http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/pr...I=380/_cid=174

Subwoofer: http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/pr...I=478/_cid=196

There's tons of information on both on the site including what they do, how they work, cost, etc. We even have a FAQ on each product where you'll find most of your questions answered -- but if you have any that aren't answered on the site, please let us know!
