I will know what I am getting in a day or so.
My friend in Wilmington agreed to help out as he has all the tools to do the timing correctly when the motor goes back together . I can tear it down no problem and get it back together no problem ,but getting the Vanos and Cam timing correct HMMMMM I bow to someone who has done it before again and again. There is a machine shop close by to check the heads deck out as well.
I just hope that we see evidence of where the leak is in all actuality....

Can I suggest that you grab a good paint pen and mark the camshaft to cam cap so you align it up easier?
I grab two or three colors so I can also mark the chain.
I mark everything at TDC then move it 45degree so all the valves miss the pistons if cams should turn.

You should not be too scared, I did a HG change on my S50B30, without any previous experience. Just take your time, mark all the nuts and bolts, set the crank to TDC and then there are markings on the Cams for the same purpose. If you machine the heads then you might need to do some valve adjustments again. Just remember to mark the valve adjustment shims with numbers so they go in the same place again.

The hardes thing was to time in the cams/vanos and adjsust the valves. But I managed so you should

I have done everything else in this car over taking the motor apart is no problem .It is the putting back the Cams,Vanos and getting the timing correct that I had a problem with ,but since my friend ( 20 year Master tech with BMW that now owns his own shop ) said he would be happy to help and supply the specialty tools I am cool...
EXCEPT, I got the head gasket from VAC today and they are not correct as they are M62 head gaskets period.Victor Heinz made ,but they are the makers of the OEM gaskets for BMW in Germany.SO I called Tony and asked him to investigate what the heck as far as I know I have 94mm pistons in the car and M62 is 92mm pistons. We did have the problems with ICS not knowing their *** from a hole in the ground which cost me another 7K to change out the S62 crank , put the Alpina 4.6L crank in and rebalanced everything, but I can not see them,VAC, pulling the already honed Darton Sleeves out and pushing in new ones and putting in 92mm pistons.
One point to be fair it was not Tony nor Paul that sent me the head gasket, but the sub ling after I explained that I did understand I had the 94MM pistons still intact and standard M62 gaskets would not work....I have the bill sitting right here ,unfortunately....
BUT , we will see as the engine is coming apart and pictures will be of course taken.....

Shouldn't the S62 head gasket fit on the M62 block?
Did read somewhere many B10s use this head gasket as upgrade

If so,it also has 94mm bore....
And I think can handle a bit more than the M62 head gasket...
