Sounds very promising! Personally, I like seeing a tuner drive the car around for a bit to make sure everything is dialed in. I think you tend to see a lot of disappointments when the car has not been adequately tested before leaving the shop. Also nice when the tuner takes some initiative when he sees something that can be improved.
Sounds like you are in great hands. What clutch is he refering to?
Stage 4 clutch masters.... The car is in good hands, it will be as it should be when the car gets back to N.C. They ,the shop where it is at the moment, can walk the walk unlike before when it was all talk....

I met and listened to a presentation Karl gave at the BMWCCA Techfest back in 2004, and I was very impressed with him. I talked with him afterward, and it was clear he was not only technically competent but also a good businessman. I'm no expert on modern FI systems by any means, but 30+ years back I met the late Tom Wyatt of Turbo Tom's in Atlanta, and he was one of the early pioneers of custom very high performance turbo systems, and so started my education in turbo systems (suck through 4bbl Holley systems with pressurized water injection, some with 2 or 3 stage nitrous, etc) which was complemented by studying mechanical engineering in undergrad/grad school. Tom built a killer N/A motor for my Ford Capri in the late 70's (2.8 liter V6, Holley 4bbl, Offy manifold, Isky cam, headers, etc). Sadly, he passed away a few years ago in a wreck on I-285. He was one of those guys you don't see for 10 years and are instantly talking and joking together the next time you meet like no time had elapsed. In recent years he had gotten heavily involved in kit airplanes and turbocharged airplane engines.
Anyway, Karl reminded me of Tom in many ways, and it was clear that Karl had tremendous working knowledge of forced induction systems, modern fueling computer technology, etc, required to build reliable, well-designed high performance engine system. I can't wait to see your car once it his shop is done with it!

I am not aware of a CM stage4 clutch. I have the CM FX 400 but need a beefier clutch. They have a perfect one for a S/C S62 but I need one for a S/C M62.

This set up in my car is an M5 set up that CM did for my car at least that is what the person at CM said to me when I sent him the pictures of my set up. I was never told by PREVIOUS SHOP what it was I just got billed 2,595.00$$$ by the PREVIOUS SHOP for the flywheel and a clutch and then again another 525.00 $$ by the PREVIOUS SHOP to have the clutch re-done ? That is why I called directly to C M to actually see what I had in the car. Sure is an expensive clutch set up .The car has the JB racing flywheel also.I never saw an invoice from C M or J B Racing just an invoice from PREVIOUS SHOP. They of course charged me to put the clutch in and out on top of the amount already stated. That was another 500.00$$$$.It is kind of like the "custom intercooler" that they charged me in the end 6,500.00 $$$ ( Jon Volk 666 fabrication ) and it now sits in my trunk as the responsible shop where the car is now put a much better unit in for around 2,000.00 installed.I am so glad to have the car where people care about the car and have ethics and pride in their work.Sorry I got off topic.....
I am sorry dave. But, man I am really shocked by the crap you have had to go through. I know how you feel, as this happened to a friend of mine (even more $$$$) and also to me on a smaller scale. Like eveyone has said, thanks to your heakth first, and thanks that your car is in good hands now. You got charged for clutch/flywheel install when engine was coming out anyways?

I am only really concerned with finishing my treatment and then getting back into physical shape as this treatment really screws with you and you get atrophy of the muscles as you just have no energy to really exercise. As far as the crap with the car I am a trusting person that was just foolish in trusting a shop that had a car for over 3 years and they still could not get it right. Not to mention the "Grand Master Tuner" that charged me over 2,000.00 $$$ for nothing in essence and had my ECU sitting in his possession from November of 2007 until either late March or early May of 2008. I just hope people read into my mistakes and understand where not to take their car if they want it done correctly and professionally. The PREVIOUS SHOP just got in way over their heads with my car and were guessing the whole time until I finally got fed up and flew up and got the car out of their shop and yet they had a lawyer write up an agreement for me to sign that stated that I would not sue them for damages , that in itself shows the true colors of the shops intentions.Again ,some people talk the talk only and the good people just walk the walk without the talk.I am not the only person by any means that has had this happen to them , it was just a shame , as it took a project that was supposed to be fun into the mess it became and finally the car had to moved to the more competent shop to fix what the PREVIOUS SHOP had done to my car. I am real happy where it is now and I will do business with them again someday in the future.
Well as I understand it , if I am lucky, Karl has corrected all of the ICS screw ups as of today. He will drive the car next week just to make sure and then I guess I will get intercity to bring her back to North Carolina. Karl was nothing but , fair to me and Mr.X , the tuner, treated me exceptionally well. Big Difference from ICS and Nick G , no comparison what so ever, Pros vs. shadetree mechanics.( IN MY OPINION) I will post up all the bills and show the double billing ICS did to me. Plus as we all know they never did return me a car cover that they took out of my trunk and put on another car and trashed. Not to mention drilling the thermastat, welding the supercharger bracket to the air conditioning bracket , Ceramic coating the engine ( what the hell were they thinking ) I could go on and on. I can back up all this with emails and bills from ICS and Nick G. My car came up in a thread on the Bimmerforums and not surprisingly neither George nor Nick G had a comment about a car that was in their possession for over three years with a blank checkbook and the car still did not run. On a more important note I took my last Ribavirin pills tonight . The 24 weeks of hell have come to an end and so far it seems to have done it's job in eradicating the virus from my system. I go to the lab on the 23rd of July and then visit the Hepatologist on August the 5th for the evaluation. I have been told , if I am lucky that I will start to feel more normal in about three months.I will start to exercise starting Monday. No more drinking for me so everyone that can have one for me please feel free to do so....
