That one on the right is sick, but I don't doubt it be stupidly overpriced, exspecially for a BMW. Since our pillars are out of the question, i've strongly considered molding a generic 3 guage pod and that funny heater vent on top of the dash. I can't remember if fives have those or not, but i've mocked 3 gauges there, and it will work. I prefer needles over numbers since they tend to jump, needles are easier on the eye also.

My cluster is being overnighted to Atlanta Monday or Tuesday for the designer to access the situation as this will be the first E39 he has done , although he has done other BMW clusters . I am told he will delete the water temp gauge and that is where the display shall be positioned. He also gave me a basic idea of cost from his end and it was reasonable.Of course , then the sensors have to be hooked into the car but , in my case there are already placements for the A/F , Oil temp , Boost if I add that one back. The only gauge I can not include is the Aquamist HFS 5 gauge which is going to fit up high where the remote for the garage door opener is located I think... Being that I am OBD II he also said I will be able to tie into the OBD II plug and read all the functions of the car and also be able to set up a datalogue when at the track. He got real excited when I told him we were dealing with a 2003 ..... He has done this on many a porsche it seems.... Gauge | In Your Face Gauges

Is there any way they could install this package in place of the mpg display and keep the water temperature gauge?

Hey Ken,

Where did you tap for the oil pressure gauge? I tapped near the oil filter housing and my readings from that location are not very useful.

Dave
