Help with Cam Positioning Sensor

Can anyone tell me where I can buy an Intake Cam Positioning Sensor for Cylinders 1 -4? My local stealer (Concord BMW) told me today it would take 6 weeks to 6 months to get in stock!!!!!!

I bought one a week ago from them and they sold me the wrong part. That cost me about 2 hours as I tried to change the part with the one they sold me. They claimed today that their computer had the intake and exhuast sensors listetd backwards.

Any ideas? I know my codes said I need an Intake Cam Positioning Sensor for Cylinders 1 - 4. From reading BlueBomber's post, and some others, I know this sensor is on the passenger's side of the engine. I don't think I removed the wrong part. The pictures in his post showed the same sensor that I saw when I removed mine.

A little advice here would be great. Is there anywhere else I can buy this part? Also, the stealer charged me $140 for mine after I complained that their original price of $190 was a little steep. I have seen some other members have bought them for $90.

Thanks in advance.

Look here:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...51&hg=11&fg=15

any bmw dealer in the us can pop one into a Express mail envelope...

Try Circle BMW in Jersey. Pacific of Crevier (I think) if you want to pay sales tax... should get to you in two days.

Thanks for the information. I will try this method Monday. What kills me is that they couldn't have just told me this when I first went in to buy the part back on 2/10. I told them exactly what I needed and instead they gave me the exhaust sensor. I see now the problem is that the diagram in the manual they are looking at doesn't say whether one is intake or exhaust.

I just had both sensors replaced in my car by a local independent who gets his parts from a BMW dealer in the area. Two weeks passed after he ordered them; BMW parts dept claimed they were hard to get. The indy suggested I call the parts mgr directly, and voila, he located one in a few days.

Don't know if the shortage thing is correct or not, but it's probably best to call a reputable high volume BMW parts source like the ones mentioned.

Wierd I just waltzed in and got the right one

Back in December, and I think they mentioned that they had a few? (Concord BMW)

There are a few differant parts guys/girls there, and they run the gamut of attitudes/abilities...I've been either very happy or wondering who let the guy out of the institute that day depending on whos on the counter...

I always bring an realoem print out, and ask to see the computer screen when buying parts...

Six months? Sounds like you were talking to McMurphy...

I think the gal's name was Amber. She was okay. The other guy I was dealing with was Richard. I'm going to try Weatherford tomorrow morning and see if they have it. I really need to get the part ASAP because I can't really drive the thing like this.
