Bird singing sound?

Only when engine is cold (first 20min or so) and around 3000rpm I have small sound coming from engine bay (sounds like small bird singing).
Do I need new belt or maybe belt pulley or is it something else?

Thanks in advance

Could be a bird singing... then maybe can't stand the heat after 20mins and buggers off.

sorry, couldn't resist.

I have similar noise.... Mine it the propshaft bearing. Sometimes it doesn't happen and other times it stays until it has warmed up. It's going in to be done once the part comes in stock here.

Listen carefully and if its the same thing you can here it mostly from the tunnel behind the gearbox. Sometimes the pitch changes when you acelerate and lift off.

Hi all!
I don't want to put you guys on fire but I KNOW FOR SURE THIS:
A BIRD SINGING SOUND ON A DIESEL MOTOR MEANS A BROKEN HEAD GASKET!!!
I'm not sure (I don't know) if this situation is the same for a gasoline MOTOR!

Alin

Hi,

I am by no means an expert on this car, but to me the sound the engine belt makes on cold startups on some days can sound like a bird singing. Just an opinion.

More canary singing than blue jay though.

Hope you find a solution soon!

I have a similar noise, seems to only appear when you driving, with a cold engine and as you say the lower rev range. It's like a squiking noise.

Not sure what it is either.

Spray belts with WD40? Wouldn't that make them slip? Try hairspray if you want to make them sticky.

How about a belt tensioner? Aren't there bearings inside that can wear?

When warmed up, perhaps there is just enough lube to stop the noise. Best to warm the car, and have mech use a stethoscope while someone revs to 3000 (and I would put on lift with wheels off the ground just to play it safe) to locate where the sound is coming from.

Regards,
Jerry

I get that noise, only for a couple seconds when the engine is cold and the air temps. are below freezing. I've had it checked numerous times and nothing was ever found to be wrong??? No codes stored either??? I've only heard it maybe a dozen times or so in the past couple years. I'm not to worried. Hope you find a fix.
