Non genuine air filter problem?

I've just replaced my air filters with a couple of non genuine ones "to OEM quality" Is it just a coincidence but after fitting them my engine stalled twice when on idle? I cannot imagine there that expensive, I should have just bought genuine ones but didn't think there would be any difference.
Anyone got any advice?

It shouldn't make a difference. Make sure that the air filter housing covers are closed properly and nothing came loose like the intake ducts..
