First, yes I did a search and didnt come up with anything.
Question: Does anyone know if our light ECU is programmable? Can the stealer program our light ECU module to disable check warning lights?
I understand that this is doable on some 3 series.
I basically want to replace my license plate lights with LED bulbs but I hate getting the "check lic plate" fault light. And I dont want to install a load resistor either.

I replaced mine with an LED an got the same message a few months back, didn't really think anything could be done about. I'm curious if anyone has tried getting the ECU reprogrammed?
Per my Service Advisor, the ECU on all E39's are not programmable to disable the check light warning.
