Tyres, Tyres, Tired.....

Hello to everyone enjoying this site - Found you recently - and what a great find - and just wanted to know from any of the UK owners where they get their tyres.

My 2001 M5 (Carbon/Silverstone) has Michelin Pilot Sport as fitted OE and I now need to change them. I'm based in London. Also a guy who works for one of the fast fit centres told me that Pirelli PZero's where a better tyre for the car??? but they dont last as long as the Michlin....

Any comments gratefully recieved

Thanks All

David

There's a good place next to BMW Park West in Chiswick, Power Road. Most of the Kwik Fit etc. can't change the tyres as they don't have big enough jigs (and they'll scratch the rim paint)!!

David-

As to the brand most recommend, I'd stick with the Michelins! If you search on "tires" on this site, you'll find many who have tried other non-OEM options have returned to the Pilot Sports.

I think the Bridgestone Pole Position S-02s were most comparable to the Michelins in overall performance, but they've since been replaced by PP S-03s. The S-03s have compromised some of their dry-weather performance for treadlife and wet performance, and the consensus seems to be that they've lost quite a bit of their performance edge.

A great resource for actual user/customer feedback can be found at :
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/max.jsp

Keep in mind that the more miles driven on a particular brand, the more reliable the ratings are likely to be.

I know that doesn't resolve your sourcing issue, but it should at least help you make a better informed decision.

Good luck!
-Dave
