Hi Guy's

chick this up...
BMW 560i MVR "Martin Veyhle Racing"

Engine: 6.1Liter V12Engine
Horse Power: 440Hp........ bye bye M5
Top Speed: 310Km
0/100: 5.3s
Gear Type: F1 Gear On The Steering

This vehicle was originally a new BMW 540i that was modified by a specialist German tuner, Martin Veyhle Racing (MVR), in Stuttgart. The original V8 engine was replaced by BMW's V12 engine modified to 6.1 litres. It resulted in 438 BHP at 5,400 RPM and 620 Nm of torque at 4,300 RPM. Other developments include those to the brakes, gearbox, suspension, wheels, tyres, interior trim and instrument panel.

With these upgrades in place, the BMW MVR 560i boasts a blistering top speed of 310 km/hr. It is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/hr in 5.3 seconds.

Due to the expensive cost of the project, only 20 of these vehicles were ever made.

Eh,

Is it worth it to have a V12 that has no support for mods like S/C???

I'll stick w/ my S/C 540

Pretty sure the M5 would still be faster, and much easier to mod to get fast in the event it was slower.

Didn't someone cram the V12 from the Mclaren in an E39 a couple years ago? I wonder how much that engine runs?

No Way

I don't see how this car is faster than a stock M5. From the quick numbers a S2 would be a better choice all around!

IMO they picked the Wrong V-12. This looks to be the engine out of an older 750iL. :dunno:

+1

Number of cylinders doesn't equate to fast-ness, as attested by the 0-60 times. I am sure the slow non-SMG tranny has a lot to do with it...

Also let's not forget, it is not just the S62 that puts the ///M in our Beast. I wonder what diff/gearing is being used, the size of the brakes (rear ones especially) look extraordinarily small for the power output and weight of this car, and handling is also a questionmark given the tweaked front/rear weight distribution (looks like its got coiilovers though).

Nevertheless, thumbs up to the car aficionados that have done thiis project car.

My local mechanic use to work for Hartge tuning, he did the same thing... V12 440 hp in a 540... very tight fit...
A great shoe-horning achievement, but what puzzles me is: how did they make all the other standard E39 5-series computers in the car communicate with the 850 CSi DME?

Was it possible to keep the DSC functions?

I'll stick to my M5 though - not sure whether the additional 10% power is worth having an enormous lump up front.
Agreed. For about $4500 USD, you can add headers and ECU tuning and get the same hp figures. Has to be a BOATLOAD of money less than stuffing in a V12, which is heavier and thirstier.

0-62 mph in 5.3? M5 STOCK is 0-60 in about 4.7-4.8.

Top speed at 6600 rpm (power peak) is 193 (about 310 kph) when delimited.

Other than doing it because you can, I just don't see the rationale.:dunno:

Jerry

Very cool car. I just cant see WHY they did that vs waiting for the M5 to come out...

Seller is a bit dodgy though. No feedback, registered on 27 January 2007, and no large format pictures of the actual car.
