My car was keyed
Went into Home Depot for maybe 10 minutes max, parked towards the end with few vehicles around came back out and inspected my car out of habit (when you have your wheels stolen twice you tend to get a little paranoid) and looked like a 4 inch scratch on the drivers side front fender high up ... Hummm, might of missed it just 30 minutes before but I don't think so.
There's a another one on the front of the hood about 8 inches long, the scratched off paint is still laying along the scratch, just happened.
Truck parked one row over, guy comes over and said someone had keyed it 5 minutes before and he honked his horn and the guy ran across the parking lot and jumped in a junky car and took off, said thanks as it could've been a lot worse.
Then I thought back as I was driving in some one commented "Nice car" but I didn't see him and sounded a little off, didn't think much about it at the time. Guess some people are just born losers.
Oh well, I've been meaning to get 6 or so major paint chips and 12 or more minor ones fixed anyway.
Can anyone recommend a good paint shop in the Silicon Valley ?
Scratches are through to the primer but not to metal.
Thanks in advance, Brutus

Oh, Man, Brutus - that SUCKS! That is so awful. I just don't get it.
A couple of us have had our body work done at Allen auto-body up here in San Carlos. They are BMW certified, have Sikkens (the brand of paint on our car) trained techs, and PeterPan BMW sends all their stuff there.
SO - they know BMWs'. The work they did on my car and barry's was excellent.
At least your insurance will cover it.

That sucks, I just don't understand why people can't respect other people's property! I talked to this 360 Modena owner oneday and he told me that someone keyed his car on the left side from the front fender all the way to the back fender! I couldn't believe it, some people are just plain a**holes!

Brutus, really sorry to hear about that...I too park out at the end of the lot at Sunnyvale Home Depot while shopping. May have to switch to OSH ;-)
I am about to have some work done at Sunnyvale Auto Body; I hear great things about their work. I know they do most of the paint work on Allison's cars. I stopped by the other day to have some paint work estimated and they were EXTREMELY nice. I think the guy's name was Bob, may be the owner?
Best of luck.

Sorry to hear about that ...I know how you feel ...a few years ago some sphincter keyed my 325 trunklid as he was crossing the street ...he was ballsy to do that ...I got out and chased him (my passenger drove) ...never did catch him.
But as greg pointed out - Allen does a decent job ...thats where Peter Pan suggested I take the car.

Of course it would be best if this guy had a finger cut off, but sadly he got away. However, at least I can take delight in his self-inflicted torment: After all, he clearly feels so much emotion every time he sees a fine car that he is drawn to destroy it. Your car must hurt him a lot, not to mention all of the other fine vehicles that he sees here in the peninsula... so, at least he will continue to suffer. Your M5 will be whole before long, but only death will be his release.
If I was in charge, I'd park a Ferrari 360 on the street with a sniper giving it cover, and anybody who keys it gets shot.
