This has been addressed several times recently. Two quick points.

1 Why?- The M5 is not a dragster, it is a high powered Luxury sedan...there are much better platforms (cheaper to mod also)

2. The S62 engine is around 20,000 bucks to replace so most choose not to experiment in this way.

If someone really wants to take the M5 to the extreme "safely"...go the Dinan route, DA etc.

Brian

Jim Lev on Rodfly.com's E39 board (non M5) has a multi-stage setup in his 540iA sport. I think he's dyno'd something like 420rwhp (could be bhp... I don't remember) Anyway, he seems to think it's safe for the M62 engine.

Blockdoc has a good point though. the S62 is a $20k engine where you can get a used M62 for around $3k. I won't be the first to try it... that's for sure :-)

A long time ago, one of our members (Ben? at Wheels Boutique in Miami Florida) had a setup. I think he was running about 125 shot, don't remember. You might be able to find it with a search. I actually saw the car, but can't vouch for either performance or reliability.
Regards,
Jerry

I had a friend with a Dinan superchrged ///M5. He actually ran a small 40 shot dry system just to keep his intake temperatures low. Other than a simple dry shot kit, below 50 shot, I'd be too worried about hurting the motor.

Why mess with the S62, it's a much to intricate and $$$ motor! Buy an American pushrod and NOS the crap out of it!

NOS provides instantenous power which in my opinion is no good for any motor unless it is specifically built for the aplication. It has been done on the e60 but i would not risk it.
