Fitting M3 CSL steering wheel in M5?

Does anybody know if the E46 M3 CSL steering wheel fit the E39 M5?

I know i will loose the buttons on the wheel but i'm not bothered about those.

Yes, you need to remove the smg paddles, and you can add the 'pods' with the steering wheel buttons. Turner motorsport used to sell the wheel on line.

I had an alcantara wheel from a 330 perf. pkg on my 00 m5 for a year or so, the alcantara does wear a bit, but even in my car, a daily driver, it looked pretty good after a year or so of use. I found a nice 03 wheel and went back to leather.

hi
sorry to jump in here but any ideas where one can find the steering wheel with the carbon fiber inserts or c/f inserts to fit my steering wheel(check out my gallery for steering wheel type), ive got the carbon trim and think this would be a nice touch.

From the pictures you have a pre-facelift M5 with the "old" steering wheel. Not sure where you would add the carbon fiber inserts?

If you have upgraded to the new style steering wheel, you could go for those fitted to e.g. the 330ci (check realoem.com) which has the same steering wheel as the facelift M5.
