What DVD Player Should I buy???

Should I buy the Samsung Nuon N501 (229), Sony NS700p (299), Sony NS300 (199) or what? I don't know which I should buy! Please help. Also, the NS700p is a progressive scan - I have an Aiwa TV/VCR tv, can that even use progressive scan or do I need a digital tv or something? There's also a Panasonic TV that I can buy that's VCR, DVD, and 20" TV but its expensive. Thanks...

have been out of the ht scene for awhile, but you should find all necessary info at http://www.hometheaterforum.com or http://www.digitaltheater.com/ they have a similar forum, and i recommend you do a search before posting.

Why do you post a question on HT equipment in an M5 board?

Cheers,

unless your tv is really new and says it can do "progressive scan" you wont be able to use this feature on the newer dvd players. IMHO the best dvd players are made by panasonic b/c they make their own MPEG decoder and most others have a pretty bad chroma bug as well as ringing.

Johan,
I was thinking about this as I drove in the M5

or- how about putting a dvd into the M5! like those other guys now we can watch the Matrix while driving along.

johann,

If it's really a problem where is our OT board? If there isn't one, then we should be allowed to post in the general forum. As others have said, many of us share similar OT interests, so asking for advice about these things is yet another benefit of the forum. At least that is the way I see it...

One reason to not have a separate OT forum is that, in my and many others' opinion, is that some OT spice up this forum and if we had a separate forum, maybe this forum would be a bit boring.

Maybe you didn't know, but I've probably spent more on my HT than most other members here and am really into it. Still, this would not be the place to where I would ask questions on HT.
I wouldn't post questions about M5 or cars in general on a HT forum either.

The reason for that is simply that I don't expect to get the best answers in a forum that is dedicated to somtheing completely different.

Sure, we can create an OT forum but would that be a forum for completely OT, as in HT, Wine tasting, Skiing or other non car related topics, should it be for anything that isn't BMW related or should it be for all Non-M5 topics? Also someone would have to moderate that forum.

Cheers,
/Johan
